In a heartbeat

I first saw Heartbeat Hotel at my friends party/show back in November. I had never heard their name around before, so I had no idea what I was about to get into. Between the purple Christmas lights and the all the different noise pedals, they created this beautiful fuzzy atmoshpere. It was something completely different and sincere. To be honest, it really moved me. Seeing Heartbeat at a venue is just as fun, but there was just something very special about getting to see them at more of a closed in, intimate setting.
The Lonely Vegabound has this to say about the band,
"This is a sonic collage that shuffles through alt-rock, Krautrock, drawing on that droning avant-garde spirit of The Velvet Underground and The Fall. Manic energy of a band of a revolution in the making. " I couldn't agree more

Chemical Chad

Chad Vangaalen never fails to inspire me. After first seeing his animations for Holy Fuck - Milkshake, I started to hear his own tunes around. It wasn't long before he completely took over my sound system and become one of my favourite artists. He was coming into Toronto to play at the Horseshoe for a fest, but I didn't have any money. So I instead I went to MTV LIVE to hear him play a few songs. Almost no one showed up, so I had the honor of just sitting in front of him in awe. He never ceases to amaze me and really reinvent what it means to be a sincere and talented artist.

The New Era

This new secret studio is my favourite hidden gem

With loads of bands, no clothes, and lots of enhancements, its an experience. You get to go home with your ears ringing, and the sun rising. And as you take the sketchy bus home, reminiscing in your random fragments of pedals and Christmas lights, you feel like you have been apart something wonderful and defining in underground musical culture.
